Thank you! And nice to know people read this after not putting anything out for a while. I definitely miss the good old days of Twitter. It felt like a community. Now, I’m just feeling very “meh” about the online world. But I’ll keep plugging away with Just Write, regardless.

Nice to see your words and your prompts, Hayley. I’m a long time off The Artist Formally Known as Twitter and greatly relieved by that. I connected with a whole bunch of great folk there and we’re mostly still in touch. It’s the connections that count, not the platform, of course. I’ve been lucky, I guess, but Substack (and Notes especially) has been a haven. Proper ‘social’ social media. I put quite a lot into it, and use it to reflect my curiosity. I share a lot of other people’s work and that builds connections. If I get a sniff of the nonsense I don’t like (possibly because someone I follow because they write well has an interest in the edgier parts of politics etc) I mute or unfollow, so our space is clear of some of the stuff you’ve stumbled on. Interestingly, we’ve had an increase in unsubscribes for our long-standing newsletter (it’s still way beyond the size of community I imagined we’d build). Perhaps folk are digesting material differently. These things ebb and flow. Happy Tuesday. Nice prompts 👌🏻

Thank you for your lovely words! I somehow missed the notification for this comment, so sorry for the late reply. I definitely think people are consuming media differently - probably as an over correction to the intense digital consumption of the pandemic years. Still loving Feasts & Fables!

These things have a habit of settling down as they ebb and flow. Lovely to hear from you.

Good to hear from you, Hayley. It’s a shame Twitter has lost its way. It was once such an interesting place to be and a good way to meet interesting people. I wouldn’t have discovered you without it. Substack has partially replaced it (the algorithm hasn’t shown me many conspiracists), but doesn’t have the same breadth yet.
